Do you want to go to the art gallery?

The spectacular Science Roadshow

Yesterday we had a visit from the Science Roadshow. The focus of the session was Sound Waves.

Some of the main messages about Sound Waves were Some of the messages is that if a car goes by you when it is near you it’s louder and when it’s farther away it’s not as loud and  because When it is farther away the sound waves are spread apart that makes the sound lower.

Something I enjoyed the most was The moving eye because there were two face s one followed you and one didn’t I liked it because you had.

My favourite part of the Science Roadshow when they showed acid because it melted something but could not dissolve jelly crystals.

Something I will take away from this visit was I learnt about sound waves because they taught me about them.

Does it get louder when the car is near you or quieter?

PBL blog post

The driving question for our PBL over Term 2 and part of this Term has been, “How can we as performing artists communicate positive messages to an audience?”

We learnt about The Arts, in particular the elements of Dance, Drama and Music. We read a number of fables or fairy tales and learnt about their positive message. We then took this learning and applied it to our own play writing script.

In my group there was Lucy, Claire, Leo Wilson, and Leo Wall and we planned out what our script, and fairy tale was going to be. Click here to see our planning document.

Once we had planned our ideas, we started to write our playwriting script. The fairy tale or fable our script is based on is three little pigs. The positive message that we wanted the audience to take away was Build a more secure house. To keep you safe

The Google Slide shows everyone’s performance in Tumu, my group’s performance is on slide 17.

Something that I enjoyed about this project was filming it and acting it out

Something that I found challenging or would change about this project was memorising the lines because I had some hard lines to memorise

I am most proud of this project because I memorised my lines very well

Porridge production

Our school did a production called Porridge. It was very cool. I was in the chorus. There were lots of songs so I got to sing most of them. There were six songs in the production. So it was based on a character called Papa Bear and he was making lots of crime. But nobody knew it was him but at the end they found out. And we did five Productions, two in the day and three at night.

Have you done a production before?

Leo Wilson Blog Post about Mike King

Today we were very lucky in Tumu Hub to have Mike King, Atlanta Lolohea, Di Hiini and people from I Am Hope come to visit our Hub.

Mike read us a book called TR and Mack. It was about TR and Mack helping this girl named Charlie. She was very sad and asked her if she needed a counsellor so she did and then she was happy.

Some of the main messages were to always be happy and make other people feel happy because their feelings could affect others like your mum or dad.

Something I enjoyed the most was learning about feelings and getting my flag book and ticket because I enjoyed it. It made me feel happy and excited to see what we would do next.

Something I will take away from his talk was that everyone is important because I do respect it and it was very very nice                                                                                                                                                                                                        a good friend means you are always there for them when they do something fall or make a mistake.
